Vietnam Feed Concentrate And Basemix Market Analysis
The Vietnam Feed Concentrate And Basemix Market size is estimated at USD 5.19 billion in 2025, and is expected to reach USD 6.63 billion by 2030, at a CAGR of 5.04% during the forecast period (2025-2030).
Vietnam's commercial feed industry has experienced significant growth, propelled by the expansion of livestock and poultry sectors and increasing demand for animal protein. The country has witnessed a rise in livestock production, accompanied by growth in feed production capacities across the industry. The animal feed market, particularly for feed concentrates and base mixes, plays a crucial role in maintaining livestock productivity. Economic growth in Vietnam has led to a substantial increase in meat protein demand. This surge has stimulated meat production and consumption in the country. According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the per capita consumption of poultry products in Vietnam increased from 16.21 kg in 2019 to 17.58 kg in 2023. Consequently, the use of concentrates and base mixes in the animal feed industry has grown to enhance meat quality and production to meet rising demand.
The ongoing recovery and development of Vietnam's tourism and hotel industry are expected to promote growth in the animal feed market. Additionally, industrialization has reduced grassland areas, leading to a significant increase in demand for animal feed in recent years. According to Livestock Vietnam, 2025, the pig feed industry is projected to be the largest animal type in terms of revenue by 2028, driven by rising consumer demand for animal protein. Vietnam's livestock sector has experienced substantial growth in recent years, primarily due to the government's livestock transformation policy. This policy focuses on enhancing quality and production, meeting domestic demands, promoting national nutrition security, and reducing reliance on imported livestock products.
Vietnam Feed Concentrate And Basemix Market Trends
Increase in Meat Consumption and Demand for Animal Protein
The demand for higher value and quality foods, such as meat, eggs, and milk, is increasing in Vietnam compared to plant-originated foods, such as cereals, owing to the rising demand for greater food varieties and protein intake. These changes in consumption, together with sizeable population growth, have led to large increases in the total demand for animal products in the country. Furthermore, the rapid growth of the middle class in the country is also fuelling the increased consumption of meat in the country.
Economic growth has boosted consumers' purchasing power, most of which is directed to the consumption of livestock meat. Swine is one of the most widely eaten meats in Vietnam, accounting for a significant total meat intake in the country. The country is considered to be one of the largest pork industries in Southeast Asia. For instance, according to the data published by FAOSTAT, the total domestic swine meat consumption in Vietnam in 2021 was 3,217 thousand metric tons, which increased and reached 3,304 thousand metric tons in 2022. Meat consumption is anticipated to increase further in the coming years, and this, in turn, is likely to increase the demand for feed concentrate and base mix, thereby contributing to the studied market growth.
Along with this, the Vietnamese government, agencies, and ministries have introduced several schemes in the past, such as the livestock development strategy, to augment the livestock sector, which resulted in an increment in production and meat consumption. According to Law on Animal Husbandry, there is a need to apply science and technology in livestock production to improve the productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the animal husbandry sector, to ensure food safety, epidemic safety, environmental protection, and to cope with climate changes. Therefore, the favorable government policies for animal husbandry and the demand for meat strengthen the feed concentrate and base mix market in the country during the forecast period.

Swine and Poultry Dominated the Market
The demand for feed concentrates and base mixes in the swine and poultry sectors is driven by the rapidly expanding livestock industry and increasing demand for animal protein. Vietnam's animal feed demand is projected to reach approximately 27.05 million metric tons in 2025, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The feed industry primarily serves the swine and poultry segments, which dominate the market. Vietnam's pig population increased by 3.8% compared to the same period in 2023, while the poultry population rose by 3.3% at the end of May 2024, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. Additionally, large-scale livestock enterprises have increased while smallholder livestock production has decreased, increasing demand for commercial feed products and leading to higher economic efficiency and reduced production costs.
Swine and poultry segments dominate the market due to the increase in large and commercial livestock farms and the higher usage of protein sources in these animals. According to Livestock-Vietnam, in intensive livestock farming systems, non-selected duck breeds needed 18% crude protein for growth, while selected breeds required at least 21% protein levels to fully express their development potential.
Foreign investments in the feed industry have brought advantages in capital and technology, leading to market dominance. According to the Department of Livestock, Vietnam has 269 complete mixed industrial animal feed production facilities. Of these, 90 factories are owned by foreign-invested enterprises (FDI), accounting for 51.3% of design capacity, while 179 factories are owned by domestic enterprises, accounting for 48.7% of design capacity. Vietnam's expanding pig and poultry populations, combined with the shift towards commercialized livestock farming is driving the demand for feed concentrates and base mixes in the coming years.
