Rising Global Roundwood Production
From 2016- 2018, global round wood production increased by 3.6%. For instance, in 2016, the production was 3,831,325,295 m3 and it increased to 3,970,871,503 m3 by 2018. Over 60% of the world's roundwood production originates from Brazil, Canada, China, the EU, India, Indonesia, Russia, and the United States. In Brazil, nearly 85%-90% of round wood production is from the plantations made for wood, and rest production is obtained from the natural forests. In the United States market, plantations growing mainly in the southeastern states of the country are accounting for nearly 32%-35% of the country's production. In India, a significant share of the production is presumed to originate from private plantations, farm forestry plantations. and trees outside forests
Asia-Pacific Dominates the Global Round Wood Imports
In 2018, the global round wood import was valued at USD 31.19 billion. China, China Mainland, Japan, and India are the major importing countries in Asia-Pacific. For instance, in 2018, China imported USD 11,112,139 thousand worth round wood, China Mainland imported USD 10,984,597 thousand. During the same year, India and Japan imported USD 1,032,668 thousand and 951,176 thousand worth products respectively. Together these countries accounted for 77.2% of the import market respectively.
