  • May 2023: Etihad Rail, developer and operator of the UAE National Rail Network, has signed a 20-year partnership agreement with DHL Global Forwarding to set up a joint venture as part of the country's efforts to strengthen its freighter network. As part of the agreement, DHL will adopt rail as one of its major modes of transport to distribute goods throughout the UAE via the railway network, which connects the country's key industrial centers.
  • January 2023: The Union Pacific railroad company has signed a deal with Wabtec valued at over USD 1 billion (EUR 986.4 million) with Wabtec to modernize 525 of its AC4400 and AC6000 locomotives, as well as 75 Dash-9 locomotives. Wabtec will equip the locomotives with a number of different digital solutions including FDL advantage engine upgrades and modular control architecture. These updates will help extend the locomotives’ lives and provide a variety of benefits. These include increasing reliability by more than 80% and haulage ability by over 55%.

  • June 2024: TFI International has acquired Entreposage Marco, a Quebec, Canada-based food-grade tank hauler. Specializing in the transportation of edible products such as oils, liquid yeast, sweeteners, and fruit juices, Entreposage Marco operates a fleet of 15 power units, as reported by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This acquisition is significant and aims to increase the market reach of TFI International.
  • April 2023: Trimac Transportation acquired American Industrial Partners (AIP) Logistics, a Central Ohio-based company specializing in bulk terminal services, transportation, and warehousing for industries such as plastics, liquid chemicals, food-grade storage, and metal production. AIP's fleet includes 13 tractors, 119 trailers, and various yard vehicles. Located on a 52-acre property in Wapakoneta, Ohio, the facility offers cold, dry, and food-grade warehousing, bulk transloading, and storage, with direct access to CSX Transportation’s rail line and capacity for up to 70 railcars. This acquisition strengthens Trimac's five-year strategy to enhance its position in bulk transportation, wash, and maintenance services.

  • May 2024: Ground handling giant Dnata said that it is gearing up for the aviation industry's future by unveiling cutting-edge digital and autonomous solutions. Among its pivotal tech initiatives, Dnata is spearheading the implementation of its digital cargo management system, OneCargo. This system not only integrates various physical technologies but also enhances customer visibility significantly. December 2023: AIT Worldwide Logistics, a global supply chain solutions leader, acquired Mach II Shipping Ltd, a UK-based freight forwarder specializing in the worldwide distribution of pharmaceuticals and related products. The deal includes a subsidiary in the Netherlands and a global network of life sciences partners. This transaction secures the logistics solution that Shopify has been constructing and transfers it to a reliable and mission-driven partner, Flexport.
