- September 2022: NUR E-75, Pakistan's first locally manufactured and developed electric vehicle, claimed to have a range of 200 km with a top speed of 120 km/hr. The company DICE Foundation and private players in Pakistan were expected to start importing by the end of 2024.

- April 2024: Leoch International announced the building of two additional lead battery manufacturing plants, one in Malaysia and the other in Mexico. In Malaysia, production test runs for the second plant could start in early 2025.
- May 2023: EVE Energy Co. Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pemaju Kelang Lama Sdn Bhd to develop a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The plant will be built in Kedah state. According to a joint statement from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and EVE, it will focus on producing cylindrical lithium-ion batteries for power tools and electric two-wheelers.
- January 2023: Citaglobal Bhd collaborated with Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) to develop a battery manufacturing plant and battery energy storage system (BESS) in Malaysia. Citaglobal and IBC's collaboration includes designing, developing, and constructing integrated turnkey production facilities for battery cells, modules, and packs for electric vehicles (EVs).
- February 2024: Trontek Group showcased its innovative Lithium-ion Battery and other products at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, organized by the industry body India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) in New Delhi.
- May 2023: iPower Batteries Pvt. Ltd, a lithium-ion and graphene lead-acid battery manufacturer, announced achieving a significant milestone by developing India’s first lithium magnesium iron phosphate battery series, the Rugpro lithium-ion series, for the electric vehicle (EV) industry. In April 2023, the Indian government approved the batteries under AIS 156 (Amendment III) Phase 2.
- March 2024: Panasonic Energy Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Panasonic Group, a Japan-based multinational electronics company, will form a joint venture with Maharatna PSU Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, the nation's biggest oil firm, to manufacture cylindrical lithium-ion batteries.
- January 2024: Automotive battery maker - Amara Raja Batteries Ltd announced its plans to operate a gigafactory before the end of 2025. In May 2023, the company laid the foundation stone for one of its first gigafactories in the Mahbubnagar district in Telangana, India, that is expected to produce Lithium Cell and Battery Packs with a capacity of up to 16 GWh and 5 GWh, respectively.
- December 2023: Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd announced its plan to invest INR 48.00 billion (USD 576 million) over the next 5-6 years in setting up a plant that is likely to produce 2 lakh tonnes of lithium iron phosphate, a key material for making lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles.
- December 2023: Toyota and Criba Solution entered a partnership to expand the recycling network, involving the gathering, storing, examining, and handling of batteries to support the growing electric vehicle (EV) industry. The aim was to reduce Toyota's transportation and logistics costs for used batteries by 70% while also cutting down on emissions related to transportation. Additionally, this process is expected to enable the recovery of up to 95% of essential minerals.
- December 2023: One of India's top sustainable energy transition materials producers, LOHUM Cleantech, expanded into the UAE market by establishing one of the first EV battery recycling plants in the country in partnership with the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, UAE, and BEEAH. This supports the country’s COP28 agenda, Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, Circular Economy Policy, and emissions-free mobility goals.
- October 2023: ACE Green Recycling (ACE) entered a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United States Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to enhance and refine ACE's eco-friendly and affordable lithium-ion battery recycling technology. This partnership was to improve the recycling process for graphite, lithium-iron phosphate (LFP), and other cathode-active materials.
- November 2023: The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Industrial Base Policy agreed with Albemarle Corporation to increase domestic mining and production of lithium to increase the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries. The agreement, worth USD 90 million, will help support Albemarle's planned re-opening of their Kings Mountain, N.C. lithium mine. The development will increase domestic production of lithium for the nation's battery supply chain.
- November 2023: BASF, a global battery materials producer, agreed with SK On Co., Ltd., a global electric vehicle battery cell manufacturer, to explore collaboration opportunities in the global lithium-ion battery market, which is focused on North America and Asia-Pacific. As per the agreement, both companies will collaborate on their business and product development capabilities to develop industry-leading battery materials.

- August 2022: Researchers at MIT developed a new concept for low-cost batteries, which are made entirely from abundant and inexpensive materials. The new battery architecture, which uses aluminum and sulfur as its two electrode materials and has a molten salt electrolyte in between, helps in providing low-cost backup storage for renewable energy sources.
- January 2022: BYD and FAW were planning a production facility for electric car batteries in northeastern China, with an annual capacity of 45 GWh. A joint venture between BYD and FAW, called FAW FinDreams New Energy Technology, was established with a registered capital of EUR 140 million. BYD holds 51% of the joint venture, and FAW Group owns the rest.
- In May 2022, a leading global vehicle manufacturer selected BorgWarner's battery management system (BMS) to fit its entire B-segment, C-segment, and light commercial vehicle platforms. Starting mid-2023, the new BorgWarner BMS technology is expected to optimize battery pack performance, safety, and longevity. BorgWarner's battery management system for hybrid and electric vehicles contains a master control unit connected to multiple cell management control units. It is designed to monitor the state of charge, health, and battery temperature of each battery cell and also precisely measure battery pack current and voltage.
- In March 2022, Battrixx, the manufacturer of lithium-ion battery packs for e-vehicles, fully acquired Pune-based Varos Technology Pvt. Ltd, which develops and leverages IoT tools for EV infrastructure and battery management systems. This partnership is expected to continue growing in the overall segment and create a synergy between Battrixx products and services. Varos Technology is expected to deliver its capabilities to develop end-to-end battery management systems by leveraging cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) driven analytic tools to help predict battery life and monitor battery performance.
- May 2023: Two electric vehicle battery manufacturers announced plans to spend around EUR 10 billion on factories in Europe. Both plants are expected to start production in after two years and supply batteries to European car producers.
- May 2023: Li-Cycle Holdings Corp. and Glencore International AG announced signing a letter of intent to jointly study the feasibility of a hub facility in Italy. The Portovesme Hub would produce critical battery materials, including nickel, cobalt and lithium, from recycled battery content.
- May 2023: Volkswagen announced its plans to invest USD 5 billion in an Indonesian plant to capture key raw materials for batteries; this battery factory is part of Volkswagen’s plan to establish an electric vehicle supply chain in Indonesia.
- Mar 2023: PT Vale Indonesia and Huayou signed a nickel agreement with Ford Motor, supporting the growth of the global sustainable EV battery industry.
