Military Gas Mask Market Analysis

The Military Gas Mask Market is expected to register a CAGR of 3% during the forecast period.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the military gas market. The shutdown of non-essential businesses resulted in an economic crisis, and trade restrictions prevented international trade. The pandemic also led to a decrease in the production of military gas masks worldwide. However, with the decline of the pandemic, borders opened, leading to an increase in trade and manufacturing of military gas masks worldwide. As a result, the market is expected to experience significant growth in the near future.

The demand for first responder gas masks has increased due to the growing instances of accidents related to chemical spillages, radioactive particulate matter diffusions, and the outbreak of biological threats and pandemics. Additionally, political conflicts, terrorism, and unrest in various countries worldwide are expected to increase the demand for modern military masks.

The dynamic nature of modern warfare has resulted in the inclusion of highly lethal chemical and biological agents into weaponry, posing a significant risk to soldiers on the battlefield. This has generated a growing demand for military gas masks worldwide.

Military Gas Mask Industry Overview

The market is highly consolidated with the presence of a few players holding significant shares in the market. Some of the most prominent players in the military gas mask market are 3M, Avon Protection plc, Honeywell International, Inc., MSA Safety Incorporated, and Drägerwerk AG & Co. KG amongst others. With the competition growing in the industry, manufacturers are focusing on introducing newer models in gas masks that enhance both situational awareness, in terms of visibility and ergonomics of the users. As such, the focus is currently on manufacturing masks with flexible polyurethane lenses that give a wide field of vision, and facepieces made up of durable and soft rubber material for better ergonomics. In addition, the use of newer, advanced materials and technologies may aid in producing better and more effective masks, which may eventually propel the replacement of the traditional gas masks existing with many militaries and first responders around the world. Hence, the focus of research on newer materials and technologies may help the players in the long run.
