- In October 2022, Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. announced that its principal subsidiary, Tecnimont S.p.A., was awarded an EPC contract by SONATRACH's Direction Centrale Engineering & Project Management for the execution of an LPG extraction plant within the existing Rhourde El Baguel oil and gas treatment complex in northeastern Algeria. The total contract value is around USD 380 million.
- In February 2022, Indian Oil Corp. (IOC) announced plans to construct three new plants in Northeast India to increase its LPG bottling capacity by nearly 53% or to 8 crore cylinders annually by 2030 to meet the growing demand in the region. The total investment in the plant expansion is likely to range between USD 43- 46 million.

- August 2024: Saudi Arabia took a significant step forward in bolstering its oil infrastructure with the arrival of a state-of-the-art fleet of oil tank trucks produced by CSCTRUCK Limited. Officially welcomed at a ceremony at Jeddah Port, this new fleet comprises 100 advanced oil tank trucks. Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco) will operate these trucks as it diligently aligns its logistics and transportation network with the surging demands of the global oil market.

- March 2024: Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) unveiled its strategy to bolster its network of retail service stations in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tanzania, all identified as pivotal growth markets. Currently, OOMCO boasts a total of 277 service stations spread across these three nations: 235 in Oman, 30 in Saudi Arabia, and 12 in Tanzania. Such strategic investments are poised to create lucrative opportunities for players in the land-based fuel transportation market in Saudi Arabia.
- April 2024: Navigator Holdings (Navigator Gas), based in the United Kingdom and operating a fleet of handy-size liquefied gas carriers, successfully conducted its inaugural ship-to-ship ammonia transfer. At the Port of Ngqura in South Africa, Navigator Gas' 38,000 cbm liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier, NAVIGATOR JORF, took on 25,300 metric tons of anhydrous ammonia (NH3) from the LPG tanker ECO ORACLE, while both vessels were moored side by side.
- March 2023: South Africa and Europe launched a new maritime green corridor project to transport iron ore between the two regions. The project includes forming a consortium to find ways to achieve zero-emission shipping. Companies like Anglo American, Tata Steel, CMB, VUKA Marine, Freeport Saldanha, and ENGIE are expected to collaborate to develop the green corridor through bunkering and offtake arrangements, green bunker fuel supplies, and financial and business model alternatives.

- December 2023: ReFuels, a leading provider of sustainable transportation solutions, announced the commencement of the construction of a new CNG refueling facility in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This new facility, located in one of the United Kingdom’s largest logistic hubs, is crucial to the country’s efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options.
- Jul 2023: Saudi Arabia reached a new high in fuel oil imports from Russia, amounting to 193,000 barrels per day (bpd). Fuel oil demand is being driven by the Kingdom's reduction in crude oil production as well as an anticipated increase in summertime electricity consumption.
- Mar 2023: Saudi Arabia's national oil producer and China's Geely Automobile Holdings and Renault SA signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of automobile engines powered by gasoline, alternative fuels, and hybrid technology, which has moved one step closer to completion.
- November 2022: The government of China extended long-term thermal coal supply contracts to all coal mines for 2023 and pushed power utilities to source more of their needs through such contracts to secure market supply and stabilize prices. The long-term contract will include all coal mining companies and coal-fired electricity and heating plants.
- February 2022: The eastern Chinese coastal province of Zhejiang approved the construction of a USD 840 million coal-fired power station. According to the Zhejiang Energy Group, the Phase 2 Project of the Liuheng Power Plant will help balance the province's energy supply and demand.
- September 2022: Russia's Gazprom announced shipping 42.4 million cubic meters (mcm) of natural gas to Europe via Ukraine. The shift was part of a push by Russia to reduce its reliance on the US dollar.
- September 2022: The Baltic Pipe was inaugurated at Goleniów, Poland, marking the completion of the Baltic Pipe construction. The pipeline connects various countries, viz., Norway, Denmark, Poland, and neighboring countries. With this project, countries can now import up to 10 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas annually from Norway to Poland and transport up to three bcm of gas from Poland to Denmark.
- February 2022: Russia and China announced the development of an intergovernmental agreement on the supply of coal in the amount of 100 million tons. According to the government of Russia, the Asia-Pacific region has a significant market for coal till 2030. The countries have started working on the agreement.
- January 2022: Adani announced it won a contract to supply coal to NTPC, India’s state-owned electricity generator. The company will provide 1 million tons of coal to various power plants.
- April 2024: Statevolt has unveiled its ambitious plan to establish a state-of-the-art battery Gigafactory in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, backed by a hefty investment of USD 3.2 billion. Dubbed Statevolt Emirates, the project will adopt a modular design strategy, allowing for rapid market entry and adaptability in production based on technological advancements. Initially, the Gigafactory will focus on producing semi-solid state battery cells, harnessing cutting-edge technology to boost safety and longevity. Subsequently, it will shift to manufacturing solid-state battery cells once it reaches full capacity. Set to span 60 hectares in the Al Ghail Industrial Zone of RAKEZ, the facility aims to kick off operations by the close of 2026.
- April 2024: The Moroccan government inked a USD 300 million deal with China's BTR New Material Group to establish a plant in Tangier, a port city, dedicated to manufacturing cathodes for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. As per Morocco's investment ministry, the plant is set to produce approximately 50,000 tonnes, with an initial output of 25,000 tonnes anticipated by September 2026.

Titanium oxide, a key ingredient in sunscreen, soaps, and cosmetics, emerges as a promising solution to challenges faced in the production of advanced batteries, including solid-state and sodium-ion variants.
- June 2023: Researchers in Japan have developed a rechargeable all-solid-state air battery. This innovative battery utilizes a proton-conductive polymer electrolyte paired with a redox-active organic negative electrode. Impressively, these batteries operate near their theoretical maximum capacity.

- March 2024: In partnership with the Alight project, Copenhagen Airport has become one of the pioneering airports in Europe to install a rechargeable battery for green power storage. The 900 kW/1,200 kWh battery system, supplied by Xolta, is strategically positioned in Maglebylille, south of the terminals, adjacent to the airport's workshops and garage facilities.
