The HDMI market is semi-consolidated, with several dominant players. Companies adopt various strategies to bolster their market presence, including strategic alliances, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, expansion, and launching new products or services. Some key players include Aten International Co. Ltd, Belkin International Inc., Nordost Cables, The Chord Company Ltd, and Extron.
- August 2024: Chord Company unveiled a next-generation HDMI AOC interconnect as part of its award-winning Clearway range. Priced at GBP 120 for a 3 m length, the interconnect comes with a lifetime warranty. This new active optical cable (AOC) interconnect complements the copper Clearway HDMI, featuring a state-of-the-art chipset at both ends. This enhancement allows superior performance over extended lengths, reaching up to 20 m. Additionally, the 48 GBps-bandwidth Clearway HDMI AOC cable utilizes premium OM3 grade glass fibers, capable of over 10 GB bandwidth, setting it apart from the standard OM2 (1 GB) fibers.
- February 2024: Extron unveiled the DA2 HD 8K L, a distribution amplifier compliant with HDCP 2.3, designed for HDMI 2.1 signals. This amplifier handles resolutions up to 8K/30 @ 4:4:4, catering to specialized 5K applications, such as Microsoft Teams 21:9 in Front Row setups. With dual outputs, the amplifier manages data rates reaching 40.1 Gbps, supports HDR, Deep Color up to 12 bits, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats, and includes CEC capability for enhanced operational efficiency.
