• January 2024: CNPC hoisted and docked the top tower of the 400,000 tons/year of needle coke at the construction site in Jinzhou, China. The project is likely to be completed in the coming years.

• December 2022: Gazprom Neft announced its plans to launch a project to produce needle coke in its Omsk refinery, which will be utilized in manufacturing Li-ion batteries and graphite electrodes. This project is expected to be completed by 2024.

• December 2022: POSCO Chemical announced the agreement with Ultium Cells LLC to supply graphite anode material for the expansion of EV battery cells in the United States. In POSCO Chemical, the entire product was sourced from needle coke.

• October 2022: Syrah Resources Ltd. announced it would supply a key lithium-ion battery component to South Korea's LG Energy Solution Ltd. According to the agreement, the company was to provide 2 kilotons per annum of graphite to LG Energy Solution Ltd. active anode material (AAM) from 2025 and increase it to at least 10 ktpa after its production capacity at its Vidalia facility in Louisiana.
• October 2022: Imerys Graphite & Carbon announced the launch of a landmark lithium exploitation project (“the EMILI Project'') at its Beauvoir site (Allier département of France). The project intended to expand Imerys' position as a market leader and expert in Li-ion battery components and complete its product line, which includes synthetic graphite and carbon black, at its production facilities in Willebroek (Belgium) and Bodio (Switzerland).

September 2022: Epsilon Carbon announced an investment of INR 5.5 billion (~ USD 67.27 million) in a carbon black facility based in Vijaynagar, Karnataka. With the new investment, the company will scale its production from an installed annual capacity of 115 kilotons to 215 kilotons of carbon black material, which will be supplied to tire and non-tire market companies. The new capacity is expected to be commissioned by the end of FY 2024.

April 2022: Phillips Carbon Black Limited (PCBL), a part of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, announced that it had begun commercial production at its INR 8 billion (~ USD 87.85 million) greenfield carbon black project in Tamil Nadu, with a capacity of 63 kilotons.

• January 2023: Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) and Showa Denko Materials Co. Ltd (formerly Hitachi Chemical Company Ltd) underwent a merger. This transformation gave rise to two distinct entities, i.e., a holding company, now known as "Resonac Holdings Corporation," and a manufacturing company, named "Resonac Corporation." This merger consolidated both companies' operations, particularly in the graphite electrode sector, streamlining their manufacturing and supply chains.

• October 2022: The Indian Metallurgical Coke Manufacturers Association (IMCOM) requested the Indian government to review taxes and duties on coking coal and metallurgical coke. The IMCOM asked for a 5% import duty on metallurgical coke to help domestic Met coke producers survive.
• August 2022: The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced a decline in the average production cost of metallurgical coke of 10.13 percent. It is likely to affect the metallurgical coke market in China.

• January 2024: Dampier Salt, an Australian salt company whose 68% stakes are held by Rio Tinto, announced that it will be selling one of its three production sites, the Lake MacLeod site, to Leichhardt Industrials Group in Australia for USD 251 million.
• January 2022: B. Braun received FDA permission for a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Florida. B. Braun Medical's Daytona Beach manufacturing plant is expected to produce 0.9% sodium chloride for injection, which will be offered in 1,000 ml and 500 ml Excel Plus IV bags from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
• January 2022: Nouryon signed a 15-year agreement with Suzano, a eucalyptus pulp producing company. Nouryon is projected to commission its sustainable integrated manufacturing model for the new Suzano eucalyptus pulp mill in Ribas do Rio Pardo, Brazil. Nouryon will use renewable electricity from Suzano's new pulp mill to produce sodium chlorate.

• December 2022: Boise Cascade expanded distribution centers in two new markets by acquiring 45 acres in Walterboro, SC, and purchasing a 34-acre land parcel in Hondo, Texas.
• October 2022: Boise Cascade announced the expansion of its distribution center through the acquisition of 4.67 acres of land adjacent to its Albuquerque, New Mexico branch.

• June 2024: Transform Materials, renowned for its pioneering work in clean and sustainable chemical technologies, has partnered with Johnson Matthey, a global frontrunner in sustainable solutions. This partnership melds Transform Materials' advanced technology of deriving acetylene from various short-chain hydrocarbons with Johnson Matthey's distinctive mercury-free technology and catalyst, adept at transforming acetylene into vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).
• May 2023: Transform Materials and Denka have partnered to create a low-carbon acetylene supply chain tailored for the metalworking industry. Leveraging Transform Materials' plasma technology, the collaboration seeks to produce acetylene without CO2 emissions. This agreement aligns with Denka's "Mission 2030," an ambitious eight-year management initiative targeting a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.
• October 2022: SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited and Denka Company Limited have entered into a joint venture agreement to establish an acetylene black manufacturing facility in Rayong province, Thailand. The new plant, currently under construction, is set to have an annual production capacity of around 11,000 metric tons and is slated to begin operations by 2025. This collaboration positions both companies to enhance their competitiveness in the global acetylene black market.

• March 2024: HASSLACHER Holding GmbH acquired a stake in Element5 to invest in the development and expansion of mass timber production capacity and to enter the North American market.
• June 2023: Mayr-Melnhof Holz Holding AG opened the world's first PEFC-certified cross laminated timber plant at the sawmill site in Leoben with an investment of EUR 175 million (USD 190 million).
• October 2022: Stora Enso inaugurated its new production site in Czechia, Europe, which produces cross-laminated timber (CLT) with an estimated annual production capacity of 120,000 m³. The company has strengthened its presence in the competitive market through expansion.

• July 2022: Engicon nv (Geldof) received the project for building a second ammonia storage tank for Agropolychim. The roof includes a diameter of 37 m and weighs over 150 tons.
• January 2022: Tarsco, a subsidiary of TF Warren Group, started its ammonia storage tank project on the Gulf Coast. This tank includes ammonia storage capacity of 70,000 metric tons and a unique dome roof, which was an accomplishment for the company for lifting the roof from the ground to the top through air pressure. This project will help the company expand its business through its innovative way of constructing storage tanks.
