- November 2022: RWE announced its plans to install 220 MW of battery storage capacity at two decommissioned lignite-fired and coal-fired power plants in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, for around USD 147 million. The construction of this project is scheduled to start in 2023, and commissioning is planned for 2024.
- October 2022: Fluence Energy GmbH and TransnetBW GmbH announced the deployment of the world's largest battery-based energy storage-as-transmission project. Fluence Energy GmbH is a leading company in energy storage products and services, and TransnetBW GmbH is Germany's leading transmission system operator. With this project, both companies aim to improve energy security and significantly support Germany's energy transition pathway by increasing the efficiency of the existing grid infrastructure.

- January 2024: 3E partners partnered with SynaptiQ to reveal their joint effort with The Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation (EAFU), a Ukrainian charitable organization committed to tackling the energy poverty challenge arising from the Russian invasion. This collaboration signifies a noteworthy advancement in enhancing the effectiveness of EAFU's primary endeavor, particularly in ensuring an uninterrupted power supply for schools and hospitals impacted by the conflict in Ukraine.
- October 2023: ABB approved Zincfive as a supplier of nickel-zinc batteries alongside lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries for their UPS systems. ZincFive's BC series of nickel-zinc battery cabinets can be installed and supported as part of an ABB uninterruptible power supply system.
- June 2023: The Indian government shall offer USD 455.2 million as incentives to the companies for installing battery energy storage projects of 400 MWh. The government intends to reach its 2030 goal of 500 MW of renewable capacity.
- April 2023: At the Dhule substation in Maharashtra, India Grid Trust completed its first battery energy storage system (BESS) project in conjunction with solar panels.
- In November 2022, Harmony Energy Income Trust, an investment firm, announced that its Pillswoodproject in Yorkshire, UK, had gone live four months earlier than planned. According to Harmony, the 98MW/196MWh facility is Europe's largest BESS project by MWh. This is enough to power approximately 300,000 UK homes for two hours. The project will provide balancing services to the UK electricity grid network using a Tesla two-hour Megapack. Harmony Energy developed the project, with Tesla overseeing construction. Autobidder, Tesla's algorithmic trading platform, will manage the project.
- In September 2022, Global energy company RWE announced they would bring a 72MW battery energy storage system (BESS) online by the end of 2022 in Werne, Germany. The two BESS units are made up of 420 lithium-ion batteries having a combined output of 117 MW.
- In June 2022, Warstillaannounced to partner with SSE Plc to deliver 50 MW/ 100 MWh of battery energy storage system in Salisbury, United Kingdom, for the SSE solar power plant, and the battery energy storage system is expected to be commissioned in September 2023.
- September 2023: Ørsted announced that the company entered its first solar project in the United Kingdom. The project, which will have a capacity of 740 MW, is located in Nottinghamshire near the border of Lincolnshire and is being co-developed with PS Renewables.
- June 2023: The UK Government approved the construction of the country's largest solar farm, large enough to power about 60,000 households, on farmland near Chelmsford. Longfield Solar Farm, which spans 380 hectares of intensive arable farmland near Terling, has the potential to generate enough electricity to supply four times the energy needs of all new dwellings planned for Chelmsford over the next 13 years.
- June 2023: AMPYR Solar Europe announced the acquisition of a 390 MWp Solar PV + BESS portfolio from Tyler Hill, which includes sites across the United Kingdom. The five projects have grid security and are being presented for planning approval. AMPYR Solar Europe will work with Tyler Hill to bring the assets to a "ready-to-build" level before beginning construction in 2024.
- March 2024: AMEA Power, a Dubai-based renewables developer, announced that it is progressing with its 500-MW Abydos solar project in Egypt. The project is located in Kom Ombo, Aswan governorate, and has power purchase agreements in place with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).
- June 2023: A group of companies, including Abu Dhabi’s Masdar, signed an agreement with Egypt’s New and Renewable Energy Authority. The agreement is to secure land for a USD 10 billion wind farm. The farm will have a capacity of 10 GW and will produce 47,790 GW hours of clean energy annually.
- May 2023: SBM Offshore and Esso Exploration & Production Guyana entered a 10-year Operations and Maintenance Enabling Agreement. The agreement entails SBM Offshore being responsible for the operations and maintenance of four FPSOs: Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, Prosperity, and ONE GUYANA.
- April 2023: Following a major upgrade to enable gas production, Shell resumed operations at the Pierce field in the United Kingdom Central North Sea. The Haewene Brim floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO), utilized for hydrocarbon production at the Pierce field, underwent significant modifications. A new subsea gas export line was installed, connecting to the SEGAL pipeline system, which transports gas to the St Fergus facility north of Aberdeen. This development allows for the extraction of gas from the Pierce field, which had previously been focused solely on oil production.
- April 2023: KBR, headquartered in Houston, officially announced the unexpected acquisition of an engineering contract for Equinor's Bay du Nord project, valued at USD 9.4 billion and located in the offshore eastern region of Canada. The awarded contract encompasses the possibility of providing detailed design and procurement management services until the completion of the FPSO unit.
- May 2024: NYK Line collaborated with the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonization (GCMD), based in Singapore, for a six-month project to trial marine biofuel for bunkering. The companies are expected to test a biofuel blend comprising 24% fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and very low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) on a short-sea vehicle carrier, making stops at various ports.
- April 2024: French oil major TotalEnergies set up a joint venture with the Oman National Oil Company to supply liquified natural gas as a marine fuel. Marsa LNG Gas will cover upstream gas production and downstream gas liquefaction. LNG production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2028.
- April 2024: Leoch International announced the building of two additional lead battery manufacturing plants, one in Malaysia and the other in Mexico. In Malaysia, production test runs for the second plant could start in early 2025.
- May 2023: EVE Energy Co. Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pemaju Kelang Lama Sdn Bhd to develop a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The plant will be built in Kedah state. According to a joint statement from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and EVE, it will focus on producing cylindrical lithium-ion batteries for power tools and electric two-wheelers.
- January 2023: Citaglobal Bhd collaborated with Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) to develop a battery manufacturing plant and battery energy storage system (BESS) in Malaysia. Citaglobal and IBC's collaboration includes designing, developing, and constructing integrated turnkey production facilities for battery cells, modules, and packs for electric vehicles (EVs).
- April 2023: ArcelorMittal announced that the company's Brazilian entity, ArcelorMittal Brazil, formed a joint venture with the Brazilian renewable energy company Casa dos Ventos to develop the 554 MW Babilonia wind power project. The project is expected to be developed at a cost of USD 800 million and will be located in the central region of Bahia, northeast Brazil. ArcelorMittal is anticipated to hold a 55% share in the joint venture, and the remaining share will be held by Casa dos Ventos.
- January 2023: Cepsa announced that it would build three new solar power projects in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The total capacity of the three solar energy farms is expected to be 400 MW. The projects are expected to be developed with an investment of USD 305 million in the towns of Campo de Criptana and Arenales de San Gregorio.
- May 2022: NJR Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) started construction on an 8.9-MW floating solar installation in Millburn, New Jersey, which is expected to be the largest floating array in the United States. The project uses a floating racking system, and 16,510 solar panels are expected to be installed on a reservoir located at the New Jersey American Water Canoe Brook Water Treatment Plant. The clean power generated by the array is anticipated to provide approximately 95% of the facility's annual power needs through a power purchase agreement with CEV.
- February 2024: Norwegian renewable energy developer Scatec started commercial operation of 150 megawatt solar PV plants in Pakistan. The solar power projects boast an annual generation capacity of 300 gigawatt hours. Scatec also signed a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Central Power Purchasing Agency of Pakistan.
- October 2023: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority of Pakistan (WAPDA) announced issuing a tender notice inviting proposals for the installation, design, commissioning, and testing of a substantial 300 megawatt Floating Solar PV Plant. The project is to be located within the Tarbela - Barotha Hydropower Complex in Pakistan.
