Market Share of France Alternating Current (AC) Motor Industry
The French alternating current (AC) motor market is highly fragmented, owing to the presence of prominent market players such as Rockwell Automation Inc., Siemens AG, Johnson Electric, Nidec Corporation, and ABB Ltd. Market players are increasingly turning to partnerships and acquisitions to boost their product portfolios and secure lasting competitive edges.
- March 2024: ABB launched Baldor-Reliance SP4 motors, which is ABB’s solution for a more sustainable and efficient future driven by the need to reduce energy consumption. The idea is simple: take a proven AC induction motor design and improve it by reducing motor losses by an average of 20% while maintaining the simplicity, form, fit, and function of today’s installed base of AC induction motors. ABB’s SP4 technology meets the NEMA Super Premium® efficiency level in a standard AC induction motor design operating across the line, independently of a variable speed drive.
- November 2023: WEG, a prominent player in motors and drive technology, introduced its latest innovation, the W23 Sync+ motor line. This hybrid marvel includes permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets, and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) technologies, delivering superior efficiency across all speeds compared to traditional induction motors. The W23 Sync+ spans frame sizes from IEC 80 to 450 (equivalent to NEMA 140 to 7000), offering a broad operational range from 750 to 6000 rpm, maintaining constant torque without forced ventilation. With power ratings ranging from 0.75 to 1250 kW, it is compatible with power supplies of 240/415 V, 220/380 V, 230/400 V, and 400/690 V.
