Market Share of Dublin Data Center Industry
The Dublin data center market is moderately consolidated with the presence of several players like Digital Realty Trust Inc. (Interxion), Equinix Inc., and Sungard Availability Services LP. The companies continuously invest in strategic partnerships and product developments to gain substantial market share. Some of the recent developments in the market are:
- In January 2023, Amazon requested approval to build three additional data centers on one of its sites in Dublin, Ireland. Universal Developers LLC applied to Fingal County Council for seven-year planning permission to construct AWS's site at Cruiserath Road in Dublin. The corporation wants to develop three data center buildings, Data Centre E, Data Centre F, and Data Centre G, each with a gross floor space of 1,425 sq. m (15,350 sq. ft), 20,580 sq. m (221,520 sq. ft), and 20,580 sq. m (221,520 sq. ft).
- In September 2022, Schneider Electric, a player in digital energy management, collaborated with Total Power Solutions, one of its Elite Partners, to develop and build a new, high-efficiency cooling system to reduce the PUE of University College Dublin's (UCD) major production data center. UCD's data center was originally planned to house high-performance computing (HPC) clusters and serve as a research platform on its university campus. The IT services department decided to rewrite and revitalize its data center cooling design as part of a new strategic development plan to free up space at its central Dublin location to make the facility more energy and space efficient and more resilient and scalable.
