In November 2022, to create the largest data center campus in the Greater Chicago area, Prime ORD will provide more than 750,000 square feet and 175 megawatts of capacity when fully built out. The first of three campus data centers planned, ORD-01, will be promoted as a single-tenant, hyperscale data center to large cloud providers, international enterprises on the Internet, colocation firms, and Fortune 500 companies.
In December 2022, a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region officially began operations in Chicago, according to Oracle. The new area, which is Oracle's fourth in the United States and 41st overall, is a public cloud region.
