Defence and Military forces will hold the significant share

  • Satellite communication has gained significant traction due to its excessive use in the defense and military sectors for transmitting information and establishing communication between military personnel. The governments of various countries are investing in communication technology, such as navigation systems and vessel tracking. The governments of countries like Australia, China, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Indonesia play a vital role in promoting maritime security, as the naval industry adds to the region's economic growth.
  • On December 2022, New Zealand staked USD 500 million on COTS to network its military. The Land Tactical Information Network, the future network environment for the New Zealand Army, is what NEA is ultimately aiming to build. In a clear and deliberate contrast to some of its partners, the Defence Force's Network Enabled Army (NEA) program focuses on bringing established technology and equipment that can be adopted quickly and provide essential capabilities.   • The multibillion-dollar JP9102 project, which supplies the Commonwealth with a defense satellite communication system, has chosen Lockheed Martin as Australia's preferred bidder. Project JP9102 will provide Australia with its first autonomously operated satellite communication system over the Indo-Pacific region.   • In May 2023, Inmarsat was given a USD 187.4 million ANZ contract for satellite positioning. These can reduce location errors from several meters to as low as ten centimeters. With that level of precision, more automated systems utilized in aviation, maritime, agricultural, mining, and emergency services and enhanced collision avoidance for autonomous vehicles will be available.
